Get involved with the Trust

There are four main ways to get involved with the work of Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust:

1. Unlocked - the Lockleaze Community Newsletter:

The newsletter goes out 3 times a year months – delivered over 2 weeks from 15th March, 1st July and 1st December – to over 3500 homes in the Lockleaze area plus local groups and organisations. We are working towards more local people running, producing and distributing it. We always welcome more help:

  • Put an article in about something you are interested in: local history, sports, puzzles, etc. Feeling creative? - we have a Poets Corner and always welcome artwork. Contact us at the addresses below.
  • Always fancied your hand at a bit of journalism? We’re looking to for help with a newsletter group, people who can hunt down and write up articles about local events and issues. No experience necessary, just enthusiasm – open to any age. Contact us for more details.
  • Got something to get off your chest maybe? Send it in a Letter to The Editor at the address below – we try to print all letters sent to us, as well as a response from the most relevant organisation.
  • Have free time and like to help other keep informed about what’s going on? You could help by delivering the newsletter to your street or housing block.

2. Membership of the Trust:

Although LNT is managed by its trustees, they couldn’t do this without the backing of the LNT membership. Anyone can become a member – there’s no commitment beyond being willing to show an interest in what’s going on in Lockleaze. Although if you want to be more involved, we welcome new volunteers (see below).

Members are also automatically invited to attend our annual general meeting, where you will have the chance to have a say in what LNT gets up to in the next year, and become more involved in projects being run by the Trust.

We can also add your email address, if you have one, to our monthly e-bulletin list, so you can receive updates about what the Trust is doing, and what’s going on in Lockleaze.

If you’re interested in becoming a member, or just want to have a chat about exactly what that means, do get in touch with us.

3. Volunteering with the Trust:

Lockleaze Neighbourhood Trust is a diverse organisation, involved in a variety of projects throughout the local community, and as such, we’re always looking for volunteers.

Some of the things you might be interested in doing include:

  • Help with one of our groups
  • Set up your own group around your interests – gardening, martial arts, dance, knitting circle? The possibilities are endless!
  • Handy-work around the building
  • Gardening work
  • Help keep our library up to date, finding newspaper articles relevant to Lockleaze
  • And don’t forget working on the newsletter

Volunteering with LNT is a great opportunity to make some new friends, develop new skills, and find out more about what’s going on in your local area. It can also be a chance to use your existing talents in a new way, to make a difference in your local community. All volunteers are added to our mailing list, making you amongst the first to know what’s going on.

If you’re interested in volunteering with LNT, or just want to find out more about what you can do, contact us via email or phone.

4. Email newsletter:

If you just want to stay informed about what’s going on in and around Lockleaze, you might like to receive our e-bulletin, which we send out once a month.

To be added to the mailing list, send an email to info@lockleazent.co.uk with ‘E-Bulletin Mailing List’ as the subject.
